Background

Karina is from the village of Kasatveri in Central India.

She is the youngest of 3 children and comes from a very poor background. At 4 years of age her father passed away from tuberculosis. Her siblings immediately stopped going to school in order to work in the same vineyard as their mother, for a few dollars per day. Extreme poverty puts huge pressures on families. Karina is one of many "kids in crisis".

Karina is a brilliant student and wants to be a police officer. She is extremely stressed at the thought that she may have to cease her schooling in order to go to work as a labourer.

The Help A Child Australia RESTORE program will stand by Karina's mother and, guided by a loving Christian counsellor, will seek to enhance her educational, physical, emotional and spiritual development.

Support includes:

• Meeting her school costs, ensuring that Karina continues to attend school
• Monitoring her health and any medical issues
• Seeking to provide some supportive counselling for her mental and emotional health
• Witnessing to Karina and her wider family about a GOD who, in love and mercy, sent His SON
